Frequently asked questions
Does the app need a signal in the mountains?
No. All trails, routes, start points and trail pages are stored on your iPhone. Search, trail pages, stamps and the safety tools work without a connection. Map backgrounds come from Apple Maps, so areas you have not looked at before may be blank offline; the route itself still draws. The weather forecast needs a connection.
A route or name is wrong. How do I report it?
Email us the trail name and what is wrong. Trail routes come from the official open data of the Republic of Cyprus (data.gov.cy); we check every report and correct what we can in the next update, and pass data problems on to the source.
Why is there no official difficulty grade?
The open data does not include one. The effort level in the app (easy, moderate, challenging, strenuous) is estimated from distance and climb. Check the signs at the trailhead and judge the route against your own fitness, the weather and the season.
How do stamps work?
Open a trail page and tap Check in when you are on the trail (within about 120 m of the route), or record the hike with Start hike and the stamp is added when you finish. If you have no signal or no location permission, every trail page also offers a manual stamp. Stamps stay on your phone; iCloud sync is optional and uses your own Apple account.
Why does the app ask for my location in the background?
Only while you are recording a hike. Background access lets the track and the off-route alert keep working with the screen locked. iOS shows the blue location indicator throughout, and it stops as soon as you pause or finish. At all other times the app uses your location only when you tap a location feature.
The weather card says the forecast is unavailable.
The forecast needs a connection and comes from Apple Weather for the trail's start point. Try again when you have signal; sunrise and sunset are calculated on the phone and always show.
Can I use Google Maps for directions?
Yes. Tap Directions on a trail page and choose Apple Maps, Google Maps or Waze. In Settings you can set one as the default. If the app you choose is not installed, its website opens instead.
How do I get a hike onto my watch or another app?
Every trail page and every recorded hike has a GPX export. Share the file to the app you use, for example through AirDrop, Files or Mail.
How do I delete my data?
Deleting the app deletes everything stored on the phone: recorded hikes, saved trails, notes and stamps. Individual hikes can be deleted from the You tab. If you turned on iCloud sync, turn it off in Settings first so the stamp list is no longer kept in your iCloud account.
